The speed, frequency and intensity of current crises have increased proportionally with the rise of technologies, profoundly disrupting our understanding and management of risks and threats. When these crises happen, they are very sudden, and highly complex to deal with.

In a context like this, homeland security players are faced with two challenges.

One involves not only anticipating as early on as possible the opportunities and risks involved in these new technologies, but also making them an intrinsic part of thinking and action. The other lies in eliminating the frontier between national and foreign territory, because of the increasingly deep and complex independencies between our societies and, by extension, our national security systems.

MILIPOL 2019, staged under the aegis of the French Ministry of the Interior, contributes to meeting these challenges.

Firstly, through its ability to create conditions for fertile dialogue between parties with protection and security equipment requirements and those promoting innovation and solutions. This year, MILIPOL Paris, the world’s Leading Event for Homeland Security, will again be hosting over 1,000 international exhibitors, 30,000 visitors and 180 official delegations, all interacting in an area of 24,000 m2. MILIPOL Paris 2019 will also see the second edition of the MILIPOL Innovation Awards acclaim the most innovative players in the homeland security sector. A new area, the Innovation & Research Stage (a real incubator dedicated to new technologies) will highlight the dynamic energy of security industries with high-profile innovations and start-ups, and the Major Risks section will be complemented by a Forensics zone.

Meanwhile, by focusing all the talks in this 21st edition of MILIPOL on the continuum linking the security of national and international territories, the event will offer government leaders, high officials, company directors, professionals and top-level researchers an extraordinary platform for addressing and discussing the issues and challenges raised by this continuum in their respective areas.
