Airbus Defence and Space introduces new app for multimedia group communication over LTE

Tactilon Agnet is compliant with the Mission Critical Push to Talk standard of 3GPP

Airbus Defence and Space presents Tactilon Agnet at the Critical Communications World (CCW) exhibition in Amsterdam, a group communication application over LTE for voice, data and video.

Tactilon Agnet’s next release, previously known as Tactilon TSA, offers more possibilities than the classical Push to Talk functions for voice calls. Previously, users with smartphones could initiate a group call. With Tactilon Agnet, a group member can also immediately and securely send photos and videos at the push of a button. For example, during a rescue mission, first responders can send photos of people in need of rescue to the control rooms. As a result, emergency personnel can work more quickly and successfully to locate and rescue people.

“Airbus Defence and Space has been very active in establishing clear terms of standards for Mission Critical Push to Talk products,” explains Eric Davalo, Head of Strategy, Solution Portfolio and Engineering of Secure Land Communications at Airbus Defence and Space. He points out that the new Tactilon Agnet will be available as scalable solution. “We consider this entire development as part of the evolution from our existing PMR systems to LTE in terms of mission-critical communication.”

Tactilon Agnet has also LTE Quality of Service (QoS) and multimedia capabilities, such as photos and videos. It is fully aligned with the standard Release 13 for Mission Critical Push to Talk (MCPPT) of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), a global organisation that sets international telecommunications standards. The multimedia functions of Tactilon Agnet are based already on the principles of future Release 14, focusing on Mission Critical enhancements like Mission Critical Data and Video over LTE.
